NCE delivers to the reconstruction at Boliden Rönnskär

Nordpipe Composite Engineering has signed a contract with Boliden Rönnskär regarding industrial deliveries to the reconstruction of the electrolysis plant in Skellefteå.

The electrolysis plant in Skelleftehamn was destroyed by a fire in 2023, and the reconstruction has been ongoing since 2024. For NCE, the project involves deliveries and installations of composite solutions such as tanks, reactors, pipe systems, chimneys and ducts.

-We have a well established and strong relationship with Boliden, built on a high level of mutual trust. NCE has the know-how for a project of this scope, which requires accurate planning and technical knowledge about the materials that are made to function in these environments, says Dan Björkskog, CEO.

The electrolysis plant at Rönnskär refines copper using electrolysis to produce copper cathodes and to extract precious metals such as gold and silver. The new electrolysis plant is set to be finished in late 2026.

Through this project, NCE has taken a major step forward in its growth journey and strenghtens its role as a strategic partner for the industry, with the opportunity to expand both capacity and expertise for future projects.
